Hardly any concept evokes such strong emotions \u2013 between disgust, fear and moral indignation. The more difficult it is to talk about it soberly and fact-based. But that is exactly what is necessary if we really want to understand what is behind the diagnosis \u2013 and how often it occurs at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This article is meant to do just that: Educate, distinguish, differentiate. \u2018Pedophile tendencies\u2019 are not synonymous with child abuse \u2013 nor with any form of sexual interest in minors. There are important differences. And there is data, no matter how blurred it may sometimes be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does \u2018pedophilic inclination\u2019 actually mean?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The term <em>paedophilia<\/em> It comes from Greek: \u2018pais\u2019 (child) and \u2018philia\u2019 (love). Not everyone meets the criteria for diagnosis. Many people live with such thoughts. <strong>without ever crossing a border<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Delimitation: Pedophilia, Hebephilia and Ephebophilia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the public debate, many terms are confused.
