$0.24 - April 2025

“We earned only 0.24 in April 2025 $ with streams – and continue to do so. Why music is more than money, what songs were heard and what indie artists really expect: An honest look behind the scenes.”

The numbers that hurt – but still make you proud

It's absurd. For a moment, you think it's a typo. Maybe $24? Or $2.40? But no. $0.24012 – this is the real amount that Raumwelle received for streamed music in April 2025. And it doesn't come from a single song, but from More than a dozen tracks, which are available worldwide.

What comes out of it? Here are a few examples:

TrackIncome (USD)
Glitter gloss and facades0,04785
Hey come on, let's go to the bathroom0,04451
Drone atmosphere0,02730
cerebral atrophy0,02528
Schnuckiputzi-Herzi dream0,01378
Piano Sonata No. 16 Allegro0,01241
City at night0,01033
Where is my brain0,01022
Lord of Dragonland0,00911
Reiner Kackduscher Song0,00751

Each of these titles has been streamed. Several times. And somewhere out there someone's on Play pressed – perhaps with a smile. Maybe with frowns.

Who pays at all?

The biggest payers? Surprisingly enough: YouTube (0,08791 USD) and YouTube RED (0,07099 USD). Even before Apple, Amazon, Tidal or Deezer. That is beautiful – and also a bit sad. Because what the big platforms pay for is not even enough for a sandwich at the bakery.

Here are the top platforms:

platformIncome (USD)
YouTube0,08791
YouTube RED0,07099
Amazon Prime0,04967
Apple Music0,01188
Tidal0,01122

And from which countries does the money come? The distribution is global – and at the same time strangely lopsided:

LandIncome (USD)
Worldwide0,08791
Germany0,06364
Switzerland0,04444
Iceland0,02655
Austria0,00920

Why we keep going anyway

Because it's not about money. Not only. Of course, it would be nice to generate an income with music. But what really matters is the feeling of someone pushing ‘play’ anywhere in the world. When a track from Dortmund is heard in Reykjavík. When a song like ‘Piano Sonata No 16’ helps someone to concentrate. Or when ‘frozen fields’ is placed under an atmospheric video on TikTok.

This is the moment when music erupts from your own bladder. By reaching out to people who don’t know you – but feel your sounds.

Conclusion: We're not a streaming millionaire. But we're here.

$0.24 is a joke. But they are a real echo. A digital pat on the shoulder. And they mean: People out there are listening.

This is not a settlement with the streaming world. No moral preaching. But an honest insight into what really ends up in the account. And a little reminder:

Music is not a business. Music is a sign of life.
