The Cut Massacre in Podcast

‘Those who stand on the edge of a knife still have firm ground under their feet.’
Andreas Bechstein

Mistakes also happen to the best and especially to me it is nice when you are ringing out of bed on Monday after a long TV Sunday and you have the editor-in-chief of NRW Vision on the phone and he says this in episode 15, the rehearsal podcast is a mistake.

Of course it is wonderful if you are still totally sleepy and actually do not really know what you can only stammer from a Will, yes I will correct I will do my best.

I had already heard from an acquaintance that there should be a problem there and there, that you hear voices twice, but somehow we had flattened about it and he said, would not be so bad and so I have not heard and thought, yes not be so bad, if the acquaintance already says, is not so bad

Now it turns out that this problem is probably a little bit longer, almost over a minute and so you can't listen to it, because it's quite exhausting, if it had been only a few seconds say let's say 15 seconds maximum I would have said shit what on it I'm not a professional and don't want to be, then mistakes can come sometimes make mistakes as sympathetic as if this is all completely pure and clean

So I always thought that with smaller breaks, promises, rumblings, I left it all in because this always seems more sympathetic as if everything is cut out and it is a clean, cleaner, radio production.

Of course, I am totally uncomfortable that there is this mistake now, and immediately after breakfast at 1 pm I set about eliminating this problem and in doing so I found that I simply shifted the track a little bit when editing later.

Since this time I first cut and edited the pure conversation tracks or the short break, where you were on the toilet or where disturbances were cut out in the conversation.

After I had supplied the beginning and the end with music and the one player, the first cut and the second had shifted into each other and the automatic smoothly dazzled these tracks on top of each other, so that instead of two voices you suddenly heard four voices, all of them muddled.

After removing this, I re-rendered the tracks, of course I thought that the error would be good now, this was, but not so, because after I had uploaded everything again and adjusted, I realized that it had a big cut where the same thing had happened again in the end, so I edited the whole thing again and the episode was extended by a whole 80 seconds.

You have to think about 80 seconds, how much that is, that's a minute and 20 seconds, that's pretty long and I wasn't even aware that this was so overlapped, but this had done the automatic and I had read some time ago extra tutorials about the editor and recording program or watched videos of it and also looked at the so-called Rippel Cutt function exactly.

With this function this error should not actually occur only I had forgotten to press Shift when moving and so the error could be reproduced again and again unfortunately also in my podcast production.

After I uploaded episode 15 a third time and also submitted it to NRW Vision, thank God only a second time, I now hope that everything is fine, because on my podcast page everything is fine.

Only now I would have had to make the transcript again, but this is very time-consuming and time-consuming that I will only do later or the days, because I can do some preparations for it.

Even if this function is more than experimental and actually not yet used great, I find it nice that you can read the spoken word as text and so contribute something to the hearing disabled or people who hear only badly can also have fun and joy in our productions.

It has also been possible for some time to have the text read aloud here, which is also a nice feature to create accessibility for people who either cannot read properly or are visually impaired.

I know that all this is so small things but to me, it is in the end already very important and to deal with it because I am disabled myself and appreciate it very much when little helpers can be found here and there

Now I hope that everything is fine so far with the podcast production of the current episode of the rehearsal podcast 15 and would be happy if I could welcome you as a new listener in my podcast production.

Of course, this will also continue to be an exquisite selection of productions to be heard at NRW Vision, these episodes always appear a little late a maximum of two weeks after publication on my blog or podcast, but then they can be heard in the media library of NRW Vision.

Have you ever had such experiences that you have done something with the best of knowledge and conscience or have given up a job and then heard afterwards that there is a mistake.
