1. Introduction: The Question That Tears Everything Up

What are the darkest truths about ourselves? What masks do we wear – not in front of others, but in front of ourselves? How many of our behaviours are actually expressions of our personality – and how many are protective mechanisms, survival strategies from a time when we didn’t know how to help each other?

These questions have not let us go. We, Sascha and Sarah, both live with one Borderline personality disorder – a disorder often associated with intense feelings, unstable relationships and deep internal tensions. We are creative, love music and words, make podcasts and songs – and sometimes illusions.
