Trauma bonding describes an intense, elusive bond that arises in relationships with recurring cycles of stress and violence. It feels subjectively ‘magnetic’, but is Intermittent reward (periods of intense closeness) and sporadic injury (depreciation, Gaslighting, withdrawal) neurobiologically ‘wired’. When a person is strong Fear of abandonment (often with borderline patterns) and the other Control/superiority needs (often with narcissistic patterns) creates a cycle that entangles both: Proximity–pain–reconciliation–hope–relapse.
